"Light is the most important factor affecting plant life. Using this meter, you can determine and accurately adjust the amount of light and/or exposure time to create optimum growing conditions. The meter measures in footcandles light emitted from fluorescent, and HID fixtures, and from the sun. Range is 0 to 5,000 footcandles. (Tip: Footcandles ÷ 10.76 = LUX.) The sensor, a silicon photocell, is on a 30"" cord which enables accurate measurements under lights, in foliage and at various angles. (Powered by photovoltaic cell, no batteries to wear out.) Includes comprehensive instructions that cover all aspects of light and its affect on plants. Light instensity and exposure are listed for over 400 plant species. "
